LifeCore lc985VG Review
Machine: LifeCore lc985VG Elliptical
Overview: LifeCore lc985VG Elliptical Trainer is LifeCore’s least expensive elliptical trainer, but still comes in higher than many machines on the market. Rated “Best Buy” and named “Best Over All” by a leading consumer magazine, the LifeCore lc985VG offers an excellent balance between quality design and an affordable price. Unlike most LifeCore ellipticals the lc985VG features a rear flywheel design, rather than a center drive design. Even so, it’s only 52” long, which is considered fairly compact for an elliptical machine. It offers an adequate workout experience with 12 present programs and a smooth 17.5 stride. Although the fixed stride length isn’t a great feature for multiple users of different heights, the LifeCore Ellipitical lc985VG does offer 4 different user profiles as well as 4 heart rate control program. While it features comforts like large cushioned foot pedals, it doesn’t pack a lot of punch in terms of accessories and gadgets. What it lacks in pizzazz, it makes up for with quality construction and a generous warranty. In terms of engineering the LifeCore doesn’t cut any corners with the lc985VG elliptical trainer, using bearings instead of bushings as well as a Poly-V Flexonic drive belt that will never stretch.

The bottom line of the LifeCore lc985VG Elliptical Trainer review is that this is undeniably a great value, rated as a “Best Buy” and "Best Over All" in the February 2009 issue of a highly trusted consumer magazine. Even though it’s a lightweight machine, it’s still incredibly sturdy thanks to a full bearing system on every moving part. Customers who have purchased exercise equipment in the past will appreciate that the lc985VG comes mostly preassembled, especially when compared to other brands.
Most customers find the computer interface not only inferior to other brands, but complicated. Even customers who are familiar with computer systems on many other models complain that the lc985VG’s computer interface could be more user-friendly. Although the 17.5” stride length will accommodate average height users it’s not going to allow most users to push the limits of their workout or increase flexibility. Also, some customers prefer chest strap heart rate monitors since the grips interrupt the upper body workout.
The LifeCore lc985VG Fitness Elliptical Trainer review: while it doesn’t stand out among similarly priced machines in terms of features, it excels in terms of quality design, which is backed by a good warranty. Despite the “Best Buy” rating the lack of extras as well as the inferior control panel may be enough to deter some customers. However thanks to its strength, durability and the fact that it's comes fairly pre-assembled it's still a very appealing buy.
