NordicTrack e5vi Review

Machine: NordicTrack e5vi Elliptical

Overview: The NordicTrack e5vi Elliptical packs a lot features into an affordably priced machine. One of the most enticing features at this price range is the adjustable stride. With three stride length options it not only accommodates different heights, but lets you target different muscles from your calves to your thighs and buns. Compared to other elliptical trainers at this price point the e5vi’s offering of 16 workout programs is pretty generous. While 12 levels of resistance isn’t terribly impressive, the adjustable stride and workout programs are enough to keep you out of a fitness rut. The ability to play music from an MP3 player through the included speakers is a nice perk that some brands don’t offer at all, let alone on a moderately priced elliptical. Featuring NordicTrack’s SpaceSaver design, it folds up to free 3’ of floor space. Despite a wide range of features, the Nordic Track Audiostrider e5vi is still a budget elliptical meaning it doesn’t have the smoothest stride or the sturdiest construction.

Strengths:
Even as one of NordicTrack’s least expensive models, the e5vi still boasts a lot of the convenient features and cool extras like built-in speakers, and MP3 port and a fold-up SpaceSaver design. The adjustable stride length lets you target your calves, thighs or glutes. The roomy foot pedals and cushioned upper body grips provide comfort, helping you workout longer without strain.
Weaknesses:
It’s important to realize that the Nordic Track e5vi Elliptical Trainer isn’t a high end model, meaning it’s not the most stable or smooth elliptical available. The weight limit of 275lbs seems like it may be a bit of an exaggeration, and the max stride length of 18” may not accommodate anyone taller than the average male height of 5’10”.
The Skinny:
The NordicTrack Audiostrider e5vi Elliptical has a unique edge as compared to other models under $600 with an adjustable stride length. It also boasts some of NordicTrack’s best trademark features like included speakers, oversized foot pedals and a folding design. However if you can afford a sturdier model with a better stride length range it’s probably worth the upgrade.
