Proform Elliptical Trainers
Proform is a division of ICON Fitness who also manufactures NordicTrack and FreeMotion elliptical trainers. Proform fills the need for affordable economically priced ellipitcal trainers for casual users. Because of ICON’s experience as well as their dominance in the elliptical market, they have the factory resources as well as the research and development necessary to manufacture decent ellipticals at lower costs. Proform used to have a reputation for poor quality and customer service, but in recent years have stepped up their efforts to make improvements. Customers who wrote recent Proform elliptical reviews report that they’re happy with the quality of the equipment, especially for the price.

Proform elliptical trainers provide decent stride lengths, which in some cases can be adjusted. Switching your stride allows you to target different muscles and change the overall fell of your workout. Using the longest possible stride length helps you burn a lot of calories and increase flexibility in your legs. Shorter stride lengths help to build muscle, especially in your calves.
Since their focus is on the home market, many Proform elliptical trainers fold, which is extremely useful in condos or apartments.
Proform Ellipticals include a generous amount of workout programs, ranging from 14 to 25, depending on the model. Some Proform models, like NordicTrack and FreeMotion uses iFit card technology, essentially adding the potential of unlimited workout routines. IFit cards cost extra, but can be well worth the money if you tend to get bored doing the same routines over and over. Each card contains 8 weeks of workout routines designed by personal trainers and automatically adjust the speed and incline for you. You also get the voice of the personal trainer who designed the program to walk you through the workout and encourage you, so it’s like getting the real gym trainer experience at home.
While a Proform elliptical trainer packs a lot of features into an affordable price they’re not for everyone. These ellipticals are meant for moderate use, rather than intense daily workouts by multiple users. Even though some boast high weight limits and claim commercial grade parts the construction just doesn’t compare to heavy duty elliptical trainers that run $2000 and up. But if you’re just looking for an affordable machine for a few workouts a week then Proform is a good value for the money you’ll spend. We recommend buying an extended warranty with Proform since most of their models only include 1-2 years on parts.
